Conflict Management
When differences threaten the family and the enterprise
Continuity helps enterprising families prevent, manage, and heal the conflicts that get in the way of making decisions, running the enterprise, and staying connected as a family. We begin by understanding what is actually happening in your family, then help you build a path forward.

When Families Come To Us
When family relationships, ownership, and significant assets are intertwined, differences can affect both everyday decisions and the future of the enterprise.
Families come to us when:
Conflict in family enterprise runs deeper
Family enterprise conflict is rarely only about money, control, or the specific issue in dispute. Identity, history, belonging, fairness, and trust also shape what is happening. That is why settling one dispute at a time so often sets up the next one.
Continuity looks beyond the immediate dispute to understand the relationships, history, and structures driving recurring conflict. We work with families to address those underlying sources and strengthen their ability to make decisions, manage differences, and move forward together.
Families don’t need to be in agreement to begin. A conversation can start with one family member or a trusted advisor.

How We Help
Family enterprise consulting through the lens of managing differences
Our work includes the core disciplines of family enterprise consulting, from governance and succession to ownership, leadership, decision making, and organizational development. We approach all of this work through the lens of preventing, managing, and healing from conflict.
The Continuity Difference
The best practice for your family hasn’t been written yet.
So-called best practices can be valuable. But in families experiencing conflict, a solution that appears to advance one stakeholder’s interests may be perceived by others as diminishing their own, deepening the very conflict it was intended to address.
Our Deconstructing Conflict℠ methodology begins not with predetermined solutions, but by first uncovering what is going wrong, what is damaging relationships, and what is keeping families stuck. From that data, we create solutions that are purpose-built for each family. Often a creative solution designed around a specific family will work better than a best practice developed for others.
#1
Evidence before assumptions.
We start with what is happening, not what should be happening.
#2
Omnipartial, not merely unbiased
We advocate for every stakeholder while supporting the family and enterprise as a whole.
#3
Urgent care. Timely results.
Our initial work is intensive, structured, and focused on the issues that need attention most.
#4
One integrated team
Multidisciplinary consultants combine professional expertise and lived family enterprise experience through one shared methodology.

How We Work
Understand first. Then build the path forward.
1 Discovery, Triage & Alignment
An intensive initial engagement, typically completed over about three months. Through confidential conversations with family members and key stakeholders, we identify the differences affecting the transition and address pressing concerns. By the end, the family has practical options for leadership, ownership, and governance, with clear priorities for implementation.
2 Implementation
Help the family turn agreed-upon priorities into action. This may include building boards and family councils, developing policies, clarifying structures and roles, strengthening accountability and decision making, and coaching current and future leaders.
3 Maintenance
Ongoing support, education, facilitation, and intervention as the family, enterprise, and circumstances evolve, with access to the Continuity team when urgent issues arise.
Our goal is to build your family’s capacity to manage differences on its own, not to create dependence on consultants.
